First steps

Make sure you have a compatible version of Blender installed on your computer. Anything newer than 4.0 should work, earlier versions might work aswell.

Download the .blend file from FAB and open it.

The model should now be ready to use.

If you want to transfer the model to another blend file there are a few options.

  1. Create an asset

Please refer to the blender documentation on how to create and use an asset.

  2. Append or Link the model in your other file

Open the file you want to transfer the model to.

Go to File > Append or File > Link and locate the downloaded .blend file. Double click on the file and enter the Object folder select all objects that start with “Fox_” and confirm.

Now from the imported objects select all objects that start with “WGT-”. These are only used as widgets for the armature. To hide them press M and select New Collection. Name the collection something like “Widgets” and disable it by clicking the checkbox next to the collection in the outliner.

  3. Copy the model to your other file.

Open the downloaded .blend file aswell as the file you want to transfer the model to.

in the downloaded file right-click on the object called “Fox_Armature” in the outliner and select Select Hierarchy.

    Press Ctrl+C.

In the other file press Ctrl+V.

Refer to option 2 on how to hide the imported armature widgets.
